Flatulence is normal. It is an important part of your digestion and everyone has this problem. Most people emit gas five to 15 times a day. However, if you think that you make more gas than other people, then there may be some special reasons behind it. This can cause you pain or other problems.

Breathing too much air- whatever gas you pass somehow reaches your intestines. This can happen when you inhale air through the mouth. Some of the gas in your gut is made up of bacteria and other germs that live there. If you make too much gas, one of the reasons may be that you are taking in too much air. Some of that air comes out in the form of belching and some through gas.

Bad Habits- Some of your habits cause more air in your mouth. Like when chewing gum or chewing a hard candy you swallow more air. The habit of eating too often or drinking from a straw also causes flatulence. If you are in the habit of chewing a pen or anything, it means that you are carrying extra air in your stomach which is released as gas.

Carbonated Drinks - Carbonated drinks such as beer, soda, or any bubbly drink can cause flatulence. If you like carbonated drinks and you often have gas problems then try a simple drink instead, you will definitely feel the difference. You will understand the real reason for the recurrence of gas.

Keep your mouth open while sleeping - Even if you are not taking extra air through your mouth during the day, you may be doing it unknowingly while sleeping. If you open your mouth and snore while sleeping, you can swallow a lot of air overnight which can cause gas the next day.

Due to diet- Other causes of flatulence may be certain foods. Such as small beans, peas, broccoli or leafy greens, whole grains, fiber foods containing cilium also make gas in the stomach. According to studies, making rajma or chole after soaking in water for 12 hours makes less gas in the stomach. Sometimes food is not digested properly and it also causes gas, such as dairy or gluten products do not suit some people and it causes gas.

Constipation or slow digestion- If you have constipation and food is moving slowly in your intestines, it gives more chance to gas in the stomach. When food stays in the stomach for a long time, germs stay active for a long time and make gas in the stomach. As you grow older, your digestion slows down, which can lead to more gas. Artificial sweeteners or some medicines also make gas in the stomach.

Medical condition- Some medical conditions also cause a lot of gas in the stomach. Such as diverticulitis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes, thyroid dysfunction or intestinal blockage.

When to contact a doctor- Frequent gas can be embarrassing but usually there is nothing to worry about. However, gas can be a problem in certain situations. Be sure to consult a doctor if you have symptoms such as severe abdominal pain due to gas, feeling very restless or swollen, diarrhea or constipation, nausea, weight loss and blood in the stool.
